[ Steve is pulled away from his thoughts of the sky and the fine line this world brings as far as unfamiliar familiarity goes. It's a little complicated, feeling both at home and not, and after a day's work of pulling people from pods, catching them with the heft of his body, and assessing just how many others share similar skills, skills that could be used in the efforts of a war, well ... it's a lot for one super-serumed man to take. He feels like he needs that moment to think.
He tilts his head towards his newfound company and offers her a grateful smile when he catches sight of the drink in hand. ]
[she gives a slight nod at his words and smiles back as she hands him the drink] Sure, no problem— it seems like it is definitely needed especially after everything we've been through today.
[ Steve lifts the mug up to his lips, relishing in the warmth as he breathes the steam in. The effects of it are almost immediate, the cold suddenly feeling twice as brisk.
Not that it changes anything. He still plans on sitting out here for a little while longer, keeping an eye on things. ]
[being aware it was more a rhetorical statement, she just laughs slightly before letting out a sigh and just taking a seat next to him]
Yeah, aside from a few minor injuries I helped treat for some people— it looks all of us did make it down safely. [she pauses for a moment, before she starts to introduce herself] I'm Clarke, by the way.
Right, manners. [ He shakes his head, smiling a little sheepishly. Usually he's a little more on top of introductions. He'll blame it on the exhaustion, and maybe a little bit on the fact that after today's events it's hard not to feel familiar with just about everybody involved. ] Steve.
It's nice to meet you, Clarke.
[ He keeps the mug between his hands for warmth. ]
[clarke wasn't too bothered by the belated introduction, they were all a little preoccupied after all but hearing his name, it feels familiar to her for some reason. she had spoken to someone on the network recently with that name but then again it was a pretty common name. she wasn't too certain about it either so she doesn't comment on it yet as she just focuses on their conversation instead] It's nice to meet you too, Steve.
Yeah, I'm a medic— back home I had been interning with my mother.
[ Some might say one of the most honourable ones to have. Steve's never been all that great with the science-ing, but if he had, he thinks in another life, he might have wanted to try it.
As for Clarke's name, there's a fairly good chance they've already met. He remembers reading it somewhere, maybe over the network, maybe in a list on the station. ]
Think you're prepared for whatever's coming up next? We'll probably be needing people with your expertise down the road.
Oh— yeah, I agree. [clarke smiles at that, she feels a bit modest at that because compared to her mother she is still learning and doing the best she can with the medical knowledge she does] I like helping people so it made sense.
[clarke looks towards him, considering his words for a moment] I'd like to hope so since I've been through something similar to this.
Yeah, I think so too— [clarke just nods at that because while she may not trust this, she can't help but want to everyone else that's in this situation just like herself.
she pauses looking in thought for a moment as they warm by the campfire before she answers the question] I'm from space so I've been through the whole thing with being send down to the ground.
[ Recently. Like, very recently, over the network.
Steve doesn't tend to forget the interactions he has with people, specifically those who leave some kind of a mark on him.
Clarke's talk of being from space had made her particularly interesting. Most of the people he'd met since have been like him: displaced, lost, confused, very much from a kind of Earth. ]
[clarke laughs slightly, knowing that she was a pretty unique case since a lot people she has met here aren't from space or even the same year she was from] Yeah, I guess so— well it's nice to meet you in person.
clarke griffin.
Hot chocolate would be perfect.

[ Should do.
Cap believes strongly in this. It's nice to see the youth still feeling this way too, even years after him.
(He is 96-ish, after all.) ]
You have, have you? What do you mean?

You don't forget a thing like someone actually having gone through this before.
