Samples: ONE | TWO | THREE Plans: steve's been on the run for a good year-and-then-some at this point. he's been marked as a fugitive and a war criminal and has been living in sketchy motels, keeping him and the remainder of his team under wraps to avoid the feds (and anyone of the stark-team). in doing so, he's been pretty stressed, and with the knowledge of thanos' plan to destroy half of the universe with the snap of his fingers and a collection of colourful gemstones, he's not having a good time. sending him into space for a spell will frustrate him, but ultimately maybe give him some downtime to relax, catch his breath, and maybe formulate a plan for when he eventually does return home to do what he'd set out to do (kill thanos). obviously he won't have any idea that whatever plan he makes won't work, but that's not what he thinks.
